It's all in the orientation...

I spent the week in a room with nearly 20 salespeople. Well, that's not quite true. Actually, it was 4 days and one very long evening.

A few years ago, I would have run screaming at the mere idea of that. Things are different now.

Without going into too much boring detail, I will say that I was pleased to have the chance to get to know some strangers and to be able to call a few of them friends now. My world is so often wrapped up in busy-ness and obligation that socialization is frequently sacrificed in favor of things like sleep and food. I am forever in search of the balance between the two -- between my work and my soul, my chores and my desire. In a lot of ways, I have it better than most in that I love what I do on a very deep level. Spending time with other folks who feel the same way, but perhaps for different reasons, was a really interesting way to spend the week.

I'll be interested to see what happens next.
