In honor of the not-too-distant-past passing of Kurt Vonnegut, I just finished rereading Timequake.
My first encounter with this novel was shortly after it was published in 1997. The version I just read was the 1998 reprint, in which Vonnegut comments at various places in the text itself on his thoughts and reactions to the book's initial release. This reprint is endless more fascinating than the original version, and I can see why dear Mr. Vonnegut felt compelled to make this happen.
I won't comment on the plot. I will say that this book is less novel and more autobiography than many of the author's works. It's also, dare I say, more interesting than some of his more widely acclaimed books. I highly suggest this book to anyone who enjoys a surreal read, a good chuckle, and a somewhat dark and twisted outlook on the universe.
